Barbara Underwood is an experienced Occupational Therapist who has been practising since 2000. She has worked across both hospital and community settings, supporting individuals with diverse and complex needs to improve their independence, function, and quality of life.
Since 2008, Barbara has worked as Co-Director alongside Matt Underwood, providing leadership while continuing to deliver high-quality clinical services. Her professional experience spans multiple funding bodies and schemes, including Veterans’ Affairs, the NDIS, WorkCover, and Compulsory Third Party (CTP). She is also an experienced Functional Independence Measure (FIM) assessor.
Barbara provides comprehensive occupational therapy services, including wheelchair assessments, seating and specialised equipment prescription to optimise function and assist clients in achieving their goals. She has extensive experience in complex home modification assessments and reporting for the NDIS, including ramps, bathrooms, and purpose-built disability housing. She also assists individuals to access the NDIS and navigate funding and supports.
In addition, Barbara conducts manual handling training and delivers Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programs in both group and individual settings.
